Michael now lives and works in Devon. He painted for many years in oils and watercolours before taking up pastels, and was a member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society before moving to Devon.

Having experimented with pastels for some years, he began to appreciate how versatile they are and now prefers them to any other medium.

Most of his work is purely pastel, but he does occasionally combine pastels with watercolour or acrylic paint.

Michael Norman is a well known pastel artist living and working in the South West of England.


He was elected to membership of the Pastel Society UK in 2007 and in recent years he has built up a growing reputation as a talented pastel painter.  He is known for his ability to depict moving and still water and reflections, and also to capture mood, light and atmosphere in his paintings.
