Michael Jay began his composing career with scores for theatre as Composer In Residence for New York’s Colonnades Theatre Lab. There he pioneered the use of live multitrack playback, providing real-time remixing that allowed the music to follow the actors. Such scores, including one for Moliere In Spite of Himself (with a production starring Richard Kiley), also featured elaborate surround sound designs with up to 12 speaker locations. Other productions include national tours of Tallulah starring Kathleen Turner and Cyrano starring John Cullum, plus productions at The Actor’s Studio.

After studying orchestration at Julliard’s extension school, Michael went on to compose music for PBS, CBS, AT&T, Unisys, Prudential, LL Bean, E Channel and the short film Peacemaker. He also composed a new orchestral signature theme for DTS home entertainment.
