Patty’s Computer LAB Rules

Patty’s Computer LAB Rules

If you use the computer lab during the day here are the guidelines that you MUST follow.
★Please allow yourself time to turn on the computers YOURSELF. This will only take you a couple of minutes, but it will save me hours of frustration and headaches. I DO NOT want students turning on the computers. The computer ON/OFF button is very sensitive and students have not been careful with them. We just had three of the computers (buttons) fixed and I already have another down.
★Once you have turned on the computers DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT turn them off when you’re finished. Leave them on for the next class. I will turn them off at the end of each day. And please don’t tell me about wasting energy. Believe me; we are saving more money by doing this that by having the computers broken all the time.
★Your students CANNOT have their backpacks with them while sitting at a computer. This is a BIG safety issue. Backpacks can be left against the wall by the filing cabinet that is by the door. If they need more space, they can leave them on top of the table. Always leaving the door way clear in case of an emergency.
★Your need to monitor your students as they come in and as they go out of the computer lab. I have found that they tend to do a lot of mischievous things to the computers as they go in or out.
★Each computer has only one chair for a reason. There are a lot of wires under the computers; too many chairs under the computers are not safe. If you must have another chair next to a computer, you MUST put it back.
★Have your students push in their chair when they’ve been dismissed from the lab. They must leave the lab in an orderly fashion.
★ The chairs and tables that are in the computer lab, are for my groups in the ASP. You are VERY welcome to use them, but you must leave them how you found them (each table has four chairs each). The area around, on top and under these two tables must be kept clear of all objects, so please do not leave any papers, books or any other objects there.
★You are welcome to use the monitor, BUT please DO NOT disconnect any of its wires. If you, for any reason need to disconnect them, you must connect them back before you leave the lab.
★ If you allowed your students to print, please make sure that they take all of their papers. I have found a lot of prints lying on the tables and by the printers. I usually gather them and leave them on a pile by the printers. But I only save them for one week. After that, I put them in the recycle box.
★Every night I leave the computers, the tables and the printers just how I expect to find them the next day. I will really appreciate if you do your part to keep this computer lab up and running smoothly. If I sound frustrated, it is because I am.
★I guess what I am asking from ALL computer lab users is to leave the computer lab just the way you found it. I know this is not a lot to ask for. I see four different groups everyday, working on three different programs. When each group gets to the lab, they stay in a line until I assign them a computer. This only takes me 1 1/2 minutes. So please help me help your students.
