¡Hola y bienvenidos! Hello and welcome! This is my fifth year teaching Spanish at the lower school at St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School. Most grades meet three times a week for half a year.
Our lower school Spanish curriculum is revised every year to meet the needs and the interests of our students. It is based on the national standards for foreign language learning for the 21st century. These standards promote communication, multicultural awareness, cooperative learning, leadership and problem solving skills.
According to researchers studying another language encourages students to think more critically, and to develop a deeper understanding about how they learn. These are skills that can be transferred to all disciplines across the curriculum making foreign language studies an important component of a child’s education.
The children participate in activities that promote interpretive listening, interpretive reading, writing as well as interpersonal communication.
Helpful links will be added as needed in order for students to take the language outside of the classroom.
I love learning and teaching languages, and look forward to another wonderful year at SAA-SDS!
¡Hasta pronto!
Señora Evans
