100 Hour’s Massage Technician Program (100 hours)
This program includes a basic human anatomy and physiology relating to circulatory massage techniques. It is also covered Tai Chi body movement and stances to perform this massage techniques well and preventing injury of therapist. Ethics for therapist is also taught.

ANATOMY III - PATHOLOGY (32 hours)
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive outline in the various pathologies that a massage therapist may encounter in their career. Classes will be divided into two major categories: lab and lecture. Lab will provide the students with the opportunity to practice the skills of palpation. Assessing and treating various musculoskeletal disharmonies will occupy this time. Lecture will include the study of the nature of diseases and how massage may positively or negatively affect such diseases. MTh

AMMA THERAPY I & II (60 hours total)
Amma Therapy is a Traditional Japanese Manipulative Therapy which originated from Chinese Anmo Therapy. The word Amma means to push and pull in Japanese. When Anmo was introduced to Japan, it was adapted and became its own therapeutic system. Amma’s system is based on the 14 principle meridians or energy channels of the body. It uses traditional oriental medical principles for assessing and evaluating imbalances in the energetic system. Different from Western massage, Amma utilizes no oils, and patients are treated without removing their clothing. With Amma’s flexibility, the practitioner is able to support many types of client needs and is suitable in most environments. E

BUSINESS MECHANICS (12 hours)
This class helps the student form excellent charting procedures, notation and collection of data relevant to the client/patient’s initial and progressive therapy. The class also explores several approaches to collection for services: “cash only,” “billing,” etc. and teaches the student follow up on general insurance billing, worker’s compensation and personal injury cases. Also assists the student in the development of an awareness and understanding of referrals: when, how and why, including legal ramifications and boundaries. MTh

CARING FOR PEOPLE WITH CANCER (20 hours)
This course will introduce students to massage therapy for people with cancer. They will learn how to adjust individual massage sessions due to the common side effects of cancer treatment. Other areas explored are session length, positioning, site restrictions and pressure adjustments. How to be less demanding and why, psychological demands of treatment, effects of the disease process, alternative treatments and gauging the level of demand will also be addressed. Students will learn 15 minute on-site chair massage routines that utilizes simple hand techniques. Basic Shiatsu protocol that includes techniques to the client’s head, neck, shoulders, back and arms is taught. This class also provides information on how to market on-site chair massages. MTr

CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION AND UNDERSTANDING (16 hours)
This course will provide the student with a solid understanding of the client chart, professional intake, how to take proper chart notes (before and after the treatment) and communicate in a language that other health care providers will appreciate. You will learn basic note taking, how to use narrative reporting and work with the SOAP system. Having these skills helps build confidence as a professional and elevates the practice of massage on a clinical level. We will have practice time in pairs to work with each other as mock clients with practice charts as well. Sample paperwork will be provided. MTh
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY I & II (24 hours each)
This course will teach the student how to palpate and evaluate the craniosacral rhythm, how to locate restrictions in the craniosacral system, and how to release those restrictions using very light pressure (5-15 grams). Pertinent anatomy and physiology will be covered, as well as indications and contraindications of Craniosacral Therapy. E

DEEP TISSUE II (24 hours)
This class exposes methods of client positioning and stretches which will enable the therapist a deeper, not easily attained access to muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints for massage and corrective manipulations. It also touches on the somato-emotional release reaction which frequently accompanies this level of massage therapy. E
EASTERN HERBOLOGY (24 hours)
This class includes a survey of the most common Eastern herbs and formulas emphasizing their properties and therapeutic uses. Practical demos on how herbal medicines are made, principles of sampling, plants parts used, herbal sources of vitamins and mineral, infusion, making and using medicinal teas are also covered. HHP

FACIAL MASSAGE (16 hours)
This course will be focused on face lift massage techniques associated with isokinetic, isometric face and neck exercises by understanding facial, cranial, and neck to shoulder anatomy. Acupressure points of facial and cranial are introduced and practiced for alleviating certain conditions for stress management and raising the sense of well being. Hot/cold towel uses and honey face stimulation techniques are also practiced. E

FELDENKRAIS (24 hours)
This system of exercises, manual techniques and theoretical ideas developed by Moshe Feldenkrais is designed to improve neuromuscular organization by accessing the nervous system’s sensory-motor functioning. Class combines discussion, exercises, and hands-on techniques that will benefit both the massage client and practitioner. E
HEALTHY BOUNDARIES FOR THE BODYWORKER (18 hours)
This course will teach healthy boundaries for the student as a body worker. Areas discussed: establishing clear boundaries, personal space, communication, permission, equalizing, assertiveness, body language, DESC, and communicating professional boundaries. Relaxation techniques (e.g., meditation, visualization, body scan, and PMR) will also be taught and practiced. Each class will begin with a relaxation session (meditation). Bring pen or pencil with paper for written exercises. Classes will last 3 hours with two 10 minute breaks. Wear comfortable clothing as we will be sitting on the floor (pillows) or in chairs. HERBAL FUNDAMENTALS INCLUDING PLANT IDENTIFICATION WALK (24 hours)
This class will cover basic herbal theory, how to make teas, how to make tinctures using alcohol, vinegar, and glycerin, herb powders, oils, and emulsions, compresses, poultices, plasters, and soaks. Students will learn how to obtain and store high quality herbs and identify plants (in and out of the classroom). They will also learn about the yin-yang comparative, the five flavor theory, the principles of sampling, the nutritional composition of herbs, and also an introduction to active principles (pharmacognasy). Details regarding the Plant Identification Walk will be given on the first night of class. HHP

HOMEOPATHY AND HOMOTOXICOLOGY I & II (20 hours each)
Homeopathy and homotoxicology/complex or mixture of homeopathy: Homeopathic medicine is a way of stimulating the body with a tiny nudge in the right direction to return to its natural state. This course, broken up into 20 hours each, provides a basic understanding of classic and modern homeopathic medicine including the history, commonly used language of homeopathy, method of dilution/potentization, constitution, acute and chronic condition, biogeneric detoxification, etc. HHP
HOT STONES MASSAGE I & II (16 hours each)
This course introduces the use of Hot Stones as a therapeutic tool that may be used in conjunction with a massage therapy practice. Students will learn methods of handling tools for heated stones and indications/contraindications additionally to the methods of massage techniques. This course includes lecture, demonstration and a lot of hands-on experience. The student will have knowledge and skills to perform a variety of advanced hot stone techniques. E

Familiarizes the student with the different ways to use water temperatures as a tool to aid in therapeutic rehabilitation, relaxation and detoxifying. E

An invigorating massage utilizing various friction, kneading, rubbing, pressure point, and tapotement techniques to alleviate pain and tension in the head, neck, shoulders, and back bringing relief and deep relaxation to the body and mind allowing it to return to its natural state of balance and harmony. JIN SHIN JITSU I & II (16 hours each)
Jin Shin is an astonishingly powerful ancient Japanese healing art. Light touch on 26 acupressure points enables both practitioner and client to increase energy, enhance immunity, reduce muscular tension, relieve pain and experience profound relaxation. Jin Shin is particularly suited for clients who are elderly, ill, depleted, under emotional stress, do not like oil massage or do not like to disrobe. E

MEDICAL MASSAGE III (24 hours) Lecture and practical application of Myofascial Release and other medical massage techniques. Each class will explore in detail the structure of an area of the body, including bones, boney landmarks, ligaments, tendons, major nerves, muscles and the surrounding fascia. Pathologies and the treatments for them for each area will be discussed as well as documenting observations, treatment plans, and treatment results. Each student will have the opportunity to both practice and receive Myofascial release and other techniques that may be effective in treating pathologies in each area of the body. Students will also become familiar with documentation methods for the treatments they perform. For every technique, posture and body use is emphasized to protect both the therapist and the client. NATIONAL CERTIFICATION PREPARATORY CLASS (18 hours) This class is designed to help the students with their preparation for the National Certification Exam. Instructor will review all the topics students will be tested on and materials addressing the content, structure and vocabulary on the National Certification Exam (NCE). Students will be presented with questions that are designed and formatted similar to those within the NCE. NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY (16 hours) In this class students will learn how to alleviate muscle pain through the release of trigger points. NMT is applied to specific muscles, often used to increase blood flow, release knots of muscle tension, or release pain/pressure on nerves by applying steady pressure. E
NUTRITION TOPICS (48 hours) Various aspects of nutrition will be considered. What constitutes nutrition? What are the basic rules of eating? Students will take a look at the digestive system and how it functions, as well as how our food gets its nutrition. Where do people get vitamins and minerals? PASSIVE JOINT MOVEMENT (16 hours) Improve your oil or deep massage by creatively incorporating nurturing, gentle, rhythmic, cradling, coaxing and rocking movements inspired by the work of Dr .Milton Trager, MD. Strong emphasis is placed on proper body mechanics and alignment to prevent practitioners’ injuries. These techniques are superb by themselves, for elderly clients or those who do not wish to undress. REIKI (28 hours) Reiki is used as a method of healing illness and reducing stress through light touch or more commonly, by placing the hands near or above the body in specific positions or patterns. Through these positions, the reiki practitioner can correct energetic imbalances in the body by removing toxic energy, improving health and restoring a person’s energy levels. This class will also teach one the symbols used in the art of Reiki. Students will learn what the symbols are and how to use them. Students will learn how to give attunements as well as teach the art of Reiki to others. E

SANITARY ESSENTIALS (4 hours) This 4 hours class will prepare you for the unexpected situations. The “what should I do if” scenarios will be addressed. Some topics of discussion will be: sanitary practices; i.e. gloves, emesis basins, practical table coverings, disposable sheets, lotion and oil care, proper linen cleaning, client fainting, sudden nausea, ptofessional responses, emergency items to have on hand and more.

SETTING A MASSAGE OFFICE (16 hours) In this course, the student will be given a comprehensive overview of how to begin, setup, and operate a Professional Massage Therapy Office (including an informal initial business plan). Students will receive ideas and input on advertising, marketing, public outreach, staffing, filing systems, interior decor appropriate to professional massage and many other recommendations on how to create an effective practice. Students will also compare and contrast spa practice and clinical practice. Depending upon the student’s area of interest, students will develop some of their own support materials during this course, and may also be asked to demonstrate ways of outreach to the public as a way to build confidence in promoting. This will be fun as well as an educational course with plenty of time for questions, sharing ideas and goals. SPECIAL CONDITIONS USING AYURVEDA (20 hours) Ayurveda is a Sanskrit term meaning “Science of Life.” The practice of Ayurveda is designed to promote happiness, health, and creative growth in all individuals. It is the world’s oldest healing system that has been practiced in India for more than 5,000 years. In this course, you will learn the following: The history and tenets of Ayurveda, the human constitution (body type) and how to determine what yours is, what foods, exercise, massage, herbs, and meditation techniques work best for your constitution, Pancha Karma – 5 different processes that cleanse the body, mind, and emotions, and Marma Point Massage – Marma Points are the Indian system of energy centers of the body equivalent to the oriental acupressure points. Marma Point Massage strengthens the body/mind by stimulating and freeing the vital flow of energy through our whole being. E

TRIGGER POINT THERAPY (16 hours) Trigger points are areas of soft tissue in the body characterized by local pain, tightness and tenderness. Often trigger points develop because of referred pain, or pain from another source that has manifested itself in a trigger point. Upon completion of the class, the student will be able to identify trigger points and apply steady, appropriate pressure to the points to “release” them. E

TUI NA I & II (24 hours total) Learn specific hand techniques used in protocols to facilitate the release of pain and tension for specific structural disorders. Understand the nature of the injury and how Tui Na approaches the healing process. Be able to follow basic protocols and adapt them to the client's specific needs. E
