When the “Add Comment” dialog comes up please identify yourself in the “Comment as” field. What you enter here will show up at the top of your comment in capital letters. If you wish to receive direct email from a reader put your email address in the “URL” field. The reader’s browser will originate an empty email message to you when your “Comment as” identification is clicked. For your own protection do not put your email address in the body of your message.

I reserve the right to delete any comment that, in my opinion, does not move the conversation forward in a helpful manner.

Essays are listed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent at the top and the earliest at the bottom. You can move directly from essay to essay by clicking on the “previous” (earlier) and “next” (later) links at the very bottom of each essay.
