Summertime...
Summertime...
...And the living is easy
Tuesday, 27 May 2008
There are a few events in the English summertime I wait the rest of the year for. I’m not a huge festival-goer, but there’s three I like to tick off. Hay Festival, Glastonbury and Dance Camp Wales, to name them in chronological order. I’ll try and make it to Hay, even if there’s nothing on that really catches my eye. I’ll work as hard as I can to break into Glastonbury using legitimate and illegitimate channels. And I’ve not missed Dance Camp in almost 10 years.
Except I’m missing it this year. And I’m pretty bummed
about this. I’m still enjoying my time in Melbourne, but
I’m increasingly starting to miss certain things. And
when the end of July comes around and some of my
favorite homies in the world, who I don’t get to see for
the rest of the year, come together for two weeks, I’m
already seeing I’m gonna be pretty gutted.
Nada to do until then, mind. Keep on grinding cashish.
I’m mixing some audio for D.I.Y. Art Films forthcoming project, the Supermarket Musical Massacre. Due out in a few weeks time, it combines enough gore, black humor and warped social commentary (all set to a lavish
musical backing) to satisfy the whole family.
Not that it’s at all family-friendly.
To quote Chris’ spammed invite:
Hi Everybody,
After more than six months in production, we are finally gearing up for the festival premiere of Supermarket Musical Massacre!
Supermarket Musical Massacre will make its festival premiere at the Melbourne International Animation Festival in only a few weeks, and we would love to see you there! Not only will you get to see our film, you will also see some really great animation from all over the world!
We are screening in the following sessions:
"Opening Night & Sneak Peek Premier Screening" (7:00PM, Monday the 16th of June)
$25 (full price), $20 (concession) - http://www.miaf.net/2008/premier.html
and
"Australian Panorama" (2:30 PM, Saturday the 21st of June)
$14 (full price), $11 (concession) - http://www.miaf.net/2008/aus.html
Tickets are currently available from the ACMI box office (at Federation Square) and they should also be available online within the next few days @ www.acmi.net.au
The Festival is restricted to people over the age of 18, as the films showing have not been classified.
We would greatly appreciate your support by coming to the festival to see us! You will also (probably) be able to vote for your favourite film of the session, so don't forget to vote for SMM!
If you can't make the festival, never fear! Both the free family & friends screening and distribution of DVDs will be coming up in the next couple of months, so we'll keep you posted with those details.
If you'd like some information on the film, please check out: www.supermarketmusicalmassacre.com & diyartfilms.blogspot.com
We look forward to seeing you soon at a screening!
Kind Regards,
Chris
Should be worth a look. D.I.Y. aim to have a SexMan review of the film, and the whole thing will be available on DVD with lots of features, if you can’t make the screening. The DVD’s going to be worth a look no matter what, since every t-shirt on the characters and every product on the shelves is a little joke, and there’s a dozen different products in every shot, making it impossible to catch every one on a single view. The DVD will have all the products and shirts on there as extra features.
Ciao for now.
I saw Jesus sitting at a tram stop as I was driving home the other day. Naked but for a loincloth and a crown of thorns, he sat there shivering and flicking through tracks on his iPod. His stigmata was smudged.
