Lambert Family Bible

Family Bible of William Lambert and Emma Wright

The images below are scanned from the family bible of William and Emma Lambert. The bible’s journey follows the lineage of the oldest child, John W. Lambert (29 Mar 1847 - 24 Jun 1899), who married Emma Landback (1853 - 21 Mar 1897).  Their youngest child, Mary (b. 1889), ended up with the bible and it remained with her and her family in California to this day.

I recently made contact with the granddaughter of Mary (Lambert) Oertzen and she graciously sent these beautiful images for which we are very grateful.

The handwritten note from John W. Lambert was located inside the bible. The Warren family mentioned in the John W Lambert note refers to the maternal side of William Lambert’s family.

The parents of William Lambert are John Lambert and Jane Warren (b. 24 May 1795).  The parents of Jane Warren are John Warren and Mary (Ward) Warren who are identified in the note.  John and Mary Warren had a family of 7 girls and 4 boys born between 1791 - 1810.

Daughter Hannah (b. 15 Sep 1802) is believed to be the same person as Hanah Haverley in the note, the wife of Christian Haverley (aka Heverly) reported to have died in 1821 and been buried at the Warren homestead.

    See: http://www.rootsweb.com/~srgp/heverly/overch02.htm

Other daughters included twins Charlotte and Judith (b. 07 May 1810).  Charlotte is quite possibly the same person as Sharlet identified in the note, but confirming evidence is not yet found.

The last person named in the note is believed to be Hanah Grentere.
