Character Building:
The Young Leader’s Perspective
An Art & Poetry Contest for Students, Grades 9-12
You Rock Academy is launching an art and poetry contest entitled Character Building: The Young Leader’s Perspective. Students, grades 9-12, are eligible to submit a drawing, painting, or poem that expresses an understanding or perspective of the role of young leaders as depicted in one of thirty-six leader character attributes.
Instructions: Select one of the character attributes and produce either a drawing, painting, or poem, or both, that best depicts or describes what it means to you as a young leader.
Rules:
Submit as many entries as you like --One leader character attribute per entry. Paintings or drawings can be no larger than 16” x 20”.
Poems can be no longer than one (1) page of size 8 ½” x 11”.

Include the following information on an 8-½ page with each entry: Name, Phone, Address, email address, age, school, Principal name, and grade.
The winners will have their art or poem published on character cards and/or in the latest version of the book: Building Character: Strategies for Young Leaders. The top entries will receive a scholarship to the You Rock Youth Academy program, “Building Character: Strategies for Young Leaders” and receive a copy of the final book and cards.
Deadline: Monday, October 5, 2009
Winners will be notified and announced Wednesday, October 21, and invited to attend a recognition reception at You Rock Academy in November.
