An exhibition of monotypes, lithographs and paintings by Gene Speer
A native of South Carolina, Gene Speer is known for his non-objective works on paper that emphasize form, texture and color. Through the basic design elements of lines, circles and squares he creates dynamic compositions. This exhibition is comprised of monotypes, lithographs and paintings that he has executed over the last two years.
Speer currently lives in West Columbia, S C. While attending the University of South Carolina his interest in printmaking evolved when the process of monotype was introduced. After receiving a Master in Art Education he served as Master printmaker for the University for the South Carolina Art Department’s Atelier. Gene continues to explore different printmaking mediums and teaches printmaking workshops throughout South Carolina.
