I Don’t Like It When The Babies Are Sick

This week the babies were sick. I know they are not really babies anymore, but I will always think of them as “my little babies”. Anna was the one that was most affected by this little bug. She had a very high fever, chills, and lots of nose bleeds. On Monday I took her to the Doctor to see what was going on. She checked to see if it was the flu, by sticking a huge Q tip up her nose. That come back negative. So then she wanted to check her blood platelets. Great! I hardly like having to watch when they give her shots let alone drawing her blood! She was such a trooper. I was more upset about all the test then she was. Of coarse her blood count was excellent. So all we could do was just keep treating the symptoms. Which was what we had been doing.
However, the Doc did give a good recommendation for how to treat the nose bleeds. For some reason Lexi and now Anna get these a dozen times throughout the year. She recommended when they are in the bath tub to blow bubbles through their noses and then put some vaseline in their nostrils to keep them moisturized. That totally worked! We haven’t had anymore little girls waking up in the middle of the night with blood on their faces, clothes, and blankets.
That night we had just finished bathing them, giving them all their medicine to treat their symptoms and laid them in our bed, while we had a little family home evening. At the end of family prayer they ended up falling asleep in our bed snuggled next to each other. This is a rare thing in our household, but we couldn’t bear to move them just then. So they fell asleep just like the picture shows.
Now if we could just figure out a way to treat the sucking of the thumbs.
