River City Fencing
En Guarde Since 2004

River City Fencing is brainchild of Coach Will Read.  As member of Purdue University’s fencing team Mr. Read hoped to bring our sport to Greater Lafayette, Indiana.  Years later River City Fencing is established as a leading source of fencing instruction and competition.  Many members are from local high schools, home schools and Purdue University.  Both genders and all ages are welcome.

Fencing provides something for everyone.

River City Fencing hosts open fencing and tournaments.  Private lessons and group classes are available in all three weapons-- foil, epee and saber.  River City Fencing members score well in state and national tournaments including the Junior Olympics and USFA Summer Nationals.  Many of our fencers are nationally rated.

The character of our club is to provide a mix of artful fencing and practical tournament results.  We acknowledge both the rich heritage of European fencing and the pride resulting from strong tournament play.  Our sport demands a keen balance of athleticism, mental focus, patience and character.

Sportsmanship, dignity and respect for opponents and members are foundations for our club.

Our salle is located at Morton Center; 222 North Chauncey in West Lafayette, Indiana just across the street from the West Lafayette Public Library.

The supreme end of education is expert discernment in all things - - the power to tell the good from the bad, the genuine from the counterfeit, and to prefer the good and the genuine to the bad and the counterfeit.
