I truly and completely love entertaining.  There is something intimate about it, and very personal; a gift I am giving to people with whom I really enjoy spending time, and with the family I love.

Sometimes I am an artisan.  In the mood to prepare everything from scratch, I’ll spend days planning the menu, shopping for ingredients, prepping and cooking.  Other times, I am “five minutes to fabulous”, where everything is last minute and I’m breathlessly assembling things I’ve just bought on the way home and guests are walking into the kitchen.

But that’s the making and then there’s the presenting.  And the presenting is what inspired me to create the designs in my collection.  Entertaining isn’t, after all, about what we serve, it’s about enjoying friends and family.  It isn’t about the perfect evening, it’s about making anytime perfectly fun or perfectly elegant or perfectly festive.  And, no matter what I prepare, I want to serve it on elegant trays, in beautiful bowls, and arrayed on stunning platters.  Why?  Because if we use, share and enjoy beautiful things every day, our lives are made more beautiful, the common becomes special and life moves beyond the ordinary.

 

Born in Chicago, raised in New York and Florida, schooled in Rhode Island and Paris, and living (go figure) in Minnesota, my handcrafted collections are inspired by the global tapestry of my travels: the flash of color from a Sari, the sea off the coast of St. Tropez, the flesh from a ripe mango, an oyster’s shimmering shell, the delicateness of wild sage, a cranberry’s translucent depth.
