Mr. Mom hosted a party last night for Mayberry High School’s tennis team. Actually, our friends Doc and Cheryl hosted it since our house is a little under the weather, but Mr. Mom “organized” it. (That means he asked Cheryl and I what to buy and then he made the trek to the bigger-city grocery store.) The purpose of the party was to thank the tennis players for their hard work this year and celebrate their achievements, but the team ended up thanking him with two thoughtful gifts and written sentiments.
Aren’t they a good-looking group of kids? They’ve been an absolute joy to get to know this year and Mr. Mom thoroughly enjoyed the experience. And you might recall he learned a few things from his players.
It was a beautiful Mayberry evening -- 70 degrees, clear skies, and the perfect occasion for Mr. Mom’s famous hot wings and Doc’s charcoaled burgers. We ate ourselves silly and enjoyed watching the kids hit tennis balls.
Kate couldn’t get in line fast enough to help herself to the fixings. Party crasher.
