My blogging friend Beth, over at Doors are Everywhere, has tagged her readers to try their hand at a six-word memoir, including a visual illustration if desired.
Now this is a challenge I can really sink my teeth into. I love memoirs and I’ve always wanted to write one except my tiny little life doesn’t lend itself to the kind of grand existence that makes for a best-selling memoir.
But six words? Surely there’s six words in my life somewhere. So I sat down the other day and gave it a shot.
You know what? It’s hard. Keeping it to six words that is. It’s a lot like writing poetry, only even more abbreviated. And if you’ve visited Mayberry Magpie more than once, you already know brevity is not my strong suit.
But finally, after many tries, I found two that seemed to work. In fact, I decided to stitch them together and create a 12-word memoir. In honor of the decidedly Zen flavor of my memoir, I have illustrated it with photos taken by my blogging friend Krysta. In addition to writing at Evil Chef Mom (where she regularly shares amazing recipes), she also is a talented photographer and shares her art at Haphazard Joy. Thanks, Krysta, for so beautifully illustrating my memoir.
