WAILEA OLD BLUE GOLF CLUB
The 6,765-yard par-72 Arthur Jack Snyder-designed Wailea Old Blue course opened in 1972 and has played a major role in Wailea’s storied past. From the back tees, its slope is 129, and its rating is 72.2, which makes this the perfect venue for the consummate resort golfer. The Old Blue is a roomy layout with generous fairways and large, fast greens. It is the first golf course ever built in South Maui and features 74 bunkers and four ponds. Its 18 fairways and greens are framed by private estates and a lush tropical forest. The Old Blue course has a thoughtful layout that has withstood the test of time. Presidents and royalty from afar have played on its fairways, and many more will do so again. What a golfer must do to shoot par is presented clearly. One can expect a fair and rewarding golf experience at the beautiful Old Blue. Ranked among America's top 75 resort golf courses by Golf Digest, the Old Blue is the former site of the LPGA Tour’s Women's Kemper Open, and the Asahi-Kyosen Golf Tournament. The panoramic ocean views from all over the Old Blue are spectacular, and they have one of the friendliest pro shops on the island. The Old Blue is home to Maui’s best Irish tap room: Mulligan's. The Old Blue’s general manager is Barry Helle. •
Stunning views abound at the Wailea Old Blue Golf Club, where (above) hole No. 16’s green gives way to a peek at Molokini in the distance.
