Well, here we are, at Logan International Airport. Check-in through TSA went pretty smoothly, people are out getting food, beverages, Euros, and travel pillows. We’ve still got more than 2 hours until our flight. This’ll be a fun afternoon.

Storage

The amount of storage you need for photos depends on your camera settings and how many pictures you plan to take. I, for example, use an 8.0 megapixel camera set at the highest quality, and I take way too many pictures when I travel. Therefore, I'll have a 1 GB memory card and a 512 MB memory card with me, allowing around 400 shots.

Batteries

If you have a camera with a proprietary battery, make sure you have either an extra one or a charger for it (with proper converters, of course). It would be annoying to run out of battery and have no replacement mid-trip.

Those with cameras that use AA batteries are luckier as they are much easier to replace. I highly recommend the lithium AA batteries from Energizer as they last much longer and weigh less than traditional alkaline batteries. (Some readers may remember that there were recently-imposed restrictions about Lithium batteries. As long as the batteries are in one's carry-on only, there should be no issues.)
