III. Materials required for class everyday:

IV. Make-up and late work
A. Homework assignments are due at the beginning of the class period on the due date. Late homework will be docked 50 points per day late. Labs and other projects will be docked 10 points per day late.

E. Skills Tests: Students have one week from the day we start the skills test to to complete a skills test.
V. Grades
A. Test Average: 50%, Daily Average (labs, quizzes, participation): 30%, Homework Average: 20%
B. Retesting: Retesting: (The following applies only to the first six weeks.) A student may retest (before or after school)a failing major test grade to a max of 70 after correcting the original test. After the first six weeks, retests will not be allowed.
Steps to Success
1. Attend Class. *Be on time and prepared to learn chemistry the entire period with all necessary materials.
2. Do your Homework. *Read the book. Analyze examples in the book. Look over examples from your class notes. Many test questions are nearly identical to homework questions. Turn your homework in on time.
3. Be an active learner in class. *Participate. Ask Questions. Take notes. Sit up and Listen. Class will be more fun and time will pass much faster.
4. Pursue all help sources. *Free tutoring (with Mr. Ryan) is available before school (7:45), after school (4:00), and at lunch (by appointment). Form study groups with classmates.
5. Learn from your mistakes. *Correct your homework papers. Learn from lab errors. You have 1 week to complete skills tests. Retake major tests. (correct your old test first)
6. Study for major Tests. *Determine your style and apply it. (reading, writing, flashcards, listening, working examples, etc.)
7. Develop good habits now and carry them with you the rest of your life. Learn to study and work now-- improve your grades, improve your self esteem, more opportunities will come your way-- from scholarships to career opportunities.
