The Story of a Great Lady – a Watermill Touring Production
7.30pm, Thursday 18th October East Garston Village Hall
"Richly entertaining exploration of most of the strengths and just a few of the weaknesses of the female sex." The Stage
This comedy by Ade Morris was the last play commissioned by the much-missed Jill Fraser of the Watermill. It is a story of three women whose lives are changed by the writing group they form in their local village hall. It is funny, poignant and thought-provoking.
Tickets are £10 and seating is limited so please book asap by contacting Penny Locke by e-mail or on 01488 648534.
A touching, hilarious and sassy look at life, death and love through the eyes of three women. Fran Lamb is a journalist on the Winkham Weekly Snooze, eccentric, close to retirement, recently bereaved, she starts a creative writing group - to try to do something more adventurous for a change. Joining the group are Annie Taylor, a put-upon housewife, and Penny Tew, a drama teacher at Winkham Comp., and the three of them decide to devise a performance, perhaps unwisely, about Boadicea. As they get to know each other, not always in perfect harmony, they discover much in common and many differences, but none could have suspected how greatly their lives would connect, or how profoundly they might change during the mad, sad, magic and comic creation of The Story of a Great Lady.
