Well, two days away from arriving in San Diego. All going by a bit too fast. We had the opportunity to have one last song - and extended it to a medley of three. the students were great as always, and Leslie’s genius with lyrics is on display.
Lyrics below:
A Medley starting with the tune of “I get by with a little help from my friends”
What would you say if we sang you a song about

Malaysia preport song
Sunday, April 29, 2007
It is not every voyage where it is safe to hand the microphone over to the executive dean for a song - but Larry Singell showed us all that he has the pipes that make it possible to consider becoming a full time crooner.
The lyrics:
There’s a Tender in Penang
To the tune of ”Love me Tender”
There’s a tender in Penang
That goes from Ship to shore
Many wonderful things there

Mauritius Preport song
Sunday, April 29, 2007
OK - so I am a bit behind on posting. Here is the pre-port song for Mauritius - one that focuses on the main risk there - alcohol related problems. You will notice that some of the kids are in costumes playing the roles of the executive team (notice that my daughters are bald, with Erin playing the role of Ron “the Voice” the assistant exec dean, and Kate playing her Dad with my stethoscope

A bit behind in posting - here is a talented group of students who agreed to do the pre-port song for Kobe. This followed the Kabuki skit (which you will get a taste of).
the lyrics:
Kobe Pre-Port Song
Stop – in the name of love
Before you break our hearts

Excuse the production values - as there is a shorter time between ports there is less time for processing all kinds of things. Wanted to get you all some visuals, and a taste of what it is like. And Kobe, Japan (where I am sitting now) has the fastest web connection I have ever had the joy to use.
Chennai Reception Videopodcast
Tuesday, March 27, 2007
A few sights and sound from India. We have clearly jumped into the deep end of the pool in our stay in Chennai, the fourth largest city in India. Truly foreign and fascinating in all kinds of ways. We wish that there was an “olfactory” track in addition to audio and video for the podcast, but perhaps it is best for all that there isn’t.
Next podcast from Malaysia...

A beautiful morning to arrive in Cape Town - clear skies and a magnificent view as we sailed in at sunrise. Nine days crossing the South Atlantic to arrive in Africa, with several days highlighted by Archbishop Desmond Tutu leading discussions at our Global Studies course. And last night, as you will see in the video podcast, the Archbishop went above and beyond what any of us expected - enjoy
