measuring rain where you come from

i was explaining to alan the method of measuring rainfall in goulburn these days and he drew my attention to the method used at kyabram. (we are maintaining numerical scales as our commitment to the universal standardisation of rainfall reporting).

Method 1 (for wet places). millimetres, points and/or inches

Method 2 (Goulburn). rainfall duration in seconds or minutes

Method 3 (Kyabram). distance between spots of rain on the ground, in inches
