The EarthTHRIVE GREEN CHALLENGE
is a biannual competition to focus attention to both change personal values and catalyze change concerning a wide collection of environmental issues, all facets of the network of the whole global living system, that is under massive stress.
Climate Change/Air Quality, Urban Forestry, Food/Landscaping, Fresh Water, Energy, Transportation, Ocean, Green Investing, Green Building, Pollution Prevention/Recycling, Green Business/Waste Reduction, Green Campus, Media Outreach and Coverage
We acknowledge that the whole living earth system is threatened, and that, although climate change is a very significant factor in the whole picture, it is only one issue and that it will take a massive shift in consciousness to alter our behavior, to perturb the human species sufficiently to change their actions and realize a sustainable world.
We propose that the Prime Competitors be the 5 Districts of San Diego and their Supervisors, Supported by the NGOs and Universities in the Region as Champions for a Spectrum of challenging issues.
There are many local organizations dealing positively with individual issues; beach cleanups, waste reduction and recycling, yet most of
it falls under the radar of our citizens.
The EarthTHRIVE GREEN CHALLENGE links many of these forces into a cohesive whole, addressing the multitude of facets of the larger complex problem.
San Diego has not a green soul, as do Seattle and Portland. Our survival is contingent on a green behavioral shift. Our efforts are ongoing and will physically transform San Diego and cities throughout the world.
