Woof 7 - Half Men Half Biscuits

Half Man Half Biscuit - ‘For What Is Chatteris’

Half Man Half Biscuit - ‘When The Evening Sun Goes Down’

Half Man Half Biscuit - ‘Tending The Wrong Grave For 23 Years’

Half Man Half Biscuit - ‘27 yards of dental floss’ & ’24 Hour Garage People’ (Andy Kershaw session 2002 - with chat)

Andy Kershaw once called Half Man Half Biscuit “the greatest folk band of the current era” (in fact you can hear him say at the end of the last track, above).

I think the lad Kershaw is spot on. HMHB are much loved in peelite circles and have a big cult following but I think their music is highly underrated and does indeed have many folk sensibilities.

However, as every HMHB fan knows, the thing that makes them truly special is Nigel Blackwell’s lacerating, satirical wit. There is no better social commentator. There just ain’t.
If this is your first taste of the biscuit, then you are in for a treat.

This post is for Matt, Mr ‘Art is Dead’. The songs have been selected partly because I noticed Nigel has a penchant for song titles with 20 something numbers in them but rest assured, every one is a gem.

Cats with web sites? The very idea.
