Here We Go Magic is a new project for brilliant and criminally underrated NY singer-songwriter, Luke Temple.

But it doesn’t sound like an album made by a stand-up singer-songwriter. Here Temple uses a wide assortment of synthesizers, guitars, bass, percussion, and samples which  push him out of his usual lo-fi, minimalist cocoon.

It was all recorded in his house in Greenfield, Brooklyn in a “two month, non-stop stream of consciousness’’ session.

After the obvious (Animal Collective’s ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ and Andrew Bird’s ‘Noble Beast’) (both really, very good) it is my favourite album of the year so far.

So far so good. 2009 - good year, balls to the recession.
