The release of the PSS SIM and Hyper-SIM have meant that more and more mobile phones from Japan and elsewhere are finding their way into the hands of the masses - or at least, the mass importers!
Mobile phone technology has impressed me ever since I got my first contract phone back in 2000, the Nokia 8210. A great little phone it was. Smallest handset on the market. It’s still probably one of the smallest mainstream phones ever made.
Japanese handsets have always been large, with big screens and nice keypads. email on handsets has been a given for many, many years. Now, Japanese handsets offer GPS as standard, 1SEG mobile Television (no data connection needed unlike UK), VGA screens, motion sensors, 5MP cameras and a whole lot more!
All of the phones shown on this site are my own. Enjoy!
A busy year
welcome to mobilereview - a place to read reviews of some of the more obscure handsets you’re likely to hear about outside of Japan.
