Poets from Hong Kong and China travelled to Cairo to read poems with Egyptian poets. We had our work published in Akhbar Al Adab, Egypt’s leading literary weekly, and read with our Egyptian friends at several poetry events. The trip was organised by Sayed Gouda, founder of Hong Kong’s Arabic Nadwah and author of Once Upon A Time In Cairo. At the end of 2006, or early in 2007, the Egyptian Government will publish, in Arabic, an anthology of Hong Kong and Chinese poets - translated and edited by Sayed Gouda. The poets were Martin Alexander, Pauline Burton, Sayed Gouda, Jam Ismail, Alan Jefferies, David McKirdy, Mani Rao, Shulan, Madeleine Marie Slavick and Zheng Danyi. Gauri Narain is an artist.
