About Me

I enjoy working at the intersection of science, technology and business.

My primary interests lie with the creation of value through innovation, whether this be through a new business model, a new technology or better still a cross-over between industries that gives old products a new lease of life; for these reasons I am drawn to cross-disciplinary teams and projects.

Although I am interested in all manner of emerging technologies, I am particularly keen where they translate readily into a useful product rather than sitting on a laboratory bench for years. I have become a keen observer of cleantech and nanotech companies, particularly since attending the NSTI ‘Nanotech 2004’ conference in Boston. I gained a lot of insight from several weeks working with the London Centre for Nanotechology.

Over the past few years I have met with the founders and senior management of solar cell, fuel cell, waste-to-oil, supercapacitor and software companies, as well as specialty finance companies involved in areas as exotic as life settlements and insurance derivatives.
