Welcome to the work of Burt Supree, who wrote for THE VILLAGE VOICE from 1976 to 1992. You can learn more about Burt himself from reading the biographical information, some of the Tributes written by a number of his colleagues and friends, and a manifesto of sorts that he wrote in 1990 entitled Confessions of a Crabby Critic.  And please don’t leave without reading some of his other writing and visiting a collection of his unpublished poetry listed by first line.

If you found your way here to  search for a particular dance or children’s theater event, you may want to use the Index of Artists, as well as an index of the more than 500 Reviews by Year.  Look for underlined names that will lead you to hyperlinked cross-references within the site.  Before you go, feel free to leave a public comment in the Guestbook.

Finally, this undertaking would not have been possible without the participation of many individuals and institutions, who are thanked in the Acknowledgments.
