Welcome to the Gone Cajun site.

...the  home of a collection of Cajun tunes that are transcribed to help folks learn Cajun music.  And I’d like to pass along some wisdom from Dirk Powell who states...

“One of the problems with writing down the definitive version of a particular Cajun song is that it has a standardizing effect on something that is largely improvisational.” “...Let the culture pull you towards it, try to learn the music with your ears and with you hands, your senses of hearing and touch, at least as much as with your eyes.”

I started the site so that students could learn tunes with “eyes” & “ears”  and the pages can be only referred to, not “adhered to”. I hope this site offers something helpful.  Now, go make some Cajun music!

Please note: guitar chords written for tuned-down fiddle, one whole step down. So, while fiddlers read key of D, guitar/bass play in C).
