I’m so excited about orchestra this year! For most of you this is your first chance to play a string instrument. You are going to have a wonderful time learning your instrument, but it does take some work. Just like anything else that you want to do well at, you will have to put some practice into it. I suggest that you practice at least 15 minutes a day over the weekend, including Thursday night. This will give you one hour’s time of practice between Thursday and Monday classes. If you would like to practice more than that....you will be an even better player.
One thing that I am trying out this year is having a video day for the students. One day a week I will video tape the class and put the video on the web. This should provide some fun and useful information. It will allow students to see how they are doing in class from a different perspective and also allow friends and family members to see what orchestra class is all about. I will be sending home an information and permission form for this soon.
I want orchestra to be a wonderful learning environment and I hope that if you have any questions you or your parents can feel free to contact me at any time. Enjoy the website and come back often to see how well the students progress throughout the year.
