Summit 2008

May 12-16 2008 The Malachi Leadership Team chose to not do anything but seek the Lord before moving on. God showed up in some amazing ways. Some of them might not make sense, but I thought you would benefit from all the ways God is speaking to us. Here are a few list by Nate Johnson

•    We got more done in the first day of Summit that we have ever done before.
•    There was a lot of healing last year, but there was a lot of forward movement this year.
•    God’s provision of Mike to help us think Strategically.
•    Glad we were not at the Home office.
•    Schroeder’s transparency was great.
•    Starting at the Home Office was good.  We had all of our issues addressed.  Even if it was not exactly what we wanted it made it so we saw that there IS movement.
•    God orchestrated all of the different things and knit it all together.
•    God used our circumstances to help us to see our need.  He used them to speak to us.
•    Realizations of prayer.
•    Mark learned a lot about responding to e-mails between Buddy and Nate’s e-mails.
•    We are seeing the value of Gene Popono
•    We are seeing that there is a place to scale back and think strategically so we can move forward with Vision and purpose.
•    Getting feedback from the group that we could agree with, prioritize and move with.  Mike also helped us to synthesize the information and help us to think about it strategically and keep us moving.  He would help us when we would get stuck.
•    We learned the value of outside perspective. Mike helped us out.  Adam and Tom gave us good insight and wisdom.  Even Dave Powell when he was with us.
•    We were challenged, strengthened and encouraged by Adam and Tom.
•    God’s providence of Adam and Tom to help us move into funding.  They blew our mind and broke our paradigm.
•    There was a sense of being “READY” for movement.  Our position for healing from last year at staff conference.  Our being ready to move strategic assets.
•    Adam and Tom spoke revelation to us.
•    Sin of unbelief and the defeated, wounded spirit of the mission.
•    The Mission- time to stop dragging our wounds and past Malachi or Cadence pain behind.
•    Moving forward as a warrior and in victory in Christ.
•    Getting off our mat.  This is time to get up from our sin and walk in the Lord.
•    I AM... Card.  Writing down who I am so I can see how I live in community and in the love and grace of Christ and in the Lord.
•    BOLDNESS to say that the Spirit is saying something to us.  We need to grow in our willingness to realize that the Holy Spirit lives in me and empowers me to speak in boldness.  I doubt that God is speaking through me.
•    God was directing a symphony.  We worked on each step and then as each one ended, God picked up the next step and showed us EXACTLY where to go.  God worked his agenda and showed us how HE wanted to lead us.  It was not contrived or manipulated.
•    Mark’s fatigue helped to keep him spirit dependent.
•    There was GREAT unity and maturity in dealing with things as they came up.  As there was an issue, we dealt with it.  There is no corner of harboring of issues or how much we all love one another.
•    Even with these huge steps we feel absolutely unified.  There is a sense in which in the midst of the enormity of the task and vision we all feel totally united in where we need to go.
•    The Lord addressed our concessions- the ways that we keep people around our organization- even if they are not the right piece.  Even giving up Yokosuka- it is not a concession- it is moved by vision.  If it is asking a staff to leave our mission- we think it is a movement of faith.
•    Tom and Adam in addressing Mark’s concerns about balancing listening to the Lord vs. our plan.  “You need a strategic plan.”  The plan is what the Lord gives and then you move and operate in it by listening to the Spirit.
•    You do not shrink back to what you do.
•    Supporters, Contracts and Grants are NOT the source.  God is the source.  We need to trust in the Lord to be the source.
•    Mike said that we are weak in discipline because we fail to hold our people to the standards that we have set.
•    The balance between wisdom and faith.  A biblical organization.
•    We do not need to be in some meditative state.  We need to walk in the Spirit.  We need to walk in faith and know that the Lord has called us to move in those issues and ways.
•    We have a void in managerial wisdom.  We need there to be some people that just help us to hold people to accountability.  Great leaders have to also be able to manage.
•    We need to get some training in management.  WHO CAN WE BRING IN???
•    David Hutchings excitement
•    Dave Powell comes in and sees what we are doing.
•    Recognizing of birthing out new organizations.
•    The OVERALL FEELING OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD HAS BEEN ONE OF GOD’S MOVING.  HE IS THE AUTHOR OF IT.  IT STARTED LAST YEAR AND THEN WE HAD CIRCUMSTANCES AND FINALLY WHAT GOD DID HERE.
•    God took away Cadence International as our excuse.  They are not the issue.  Maybe our role in the mission is to push.
•    Healing was huge from Adam and Tom.  Mark- YOU ARE A WARRIOR and LEADER.  Don’t apologize.  There is no need for a CAVEAT.
•    It was good to tell Harbor House- You do not need to worry about speaking truth and speaking in tongues.
•    It was good to have Todd be here.  It was good to have Powell say how much he wanted to be here.
