Bring back the “stymie”...
Our own Eric Gordon sent me the above photo of an age-old scorecard from The Boulder. He asked, “What’s a ‘stymie gauge’?” (Note the center of the graphic.)
How about if we bring back the stymie? Mike Harmon, our Director of Golf at Secession, says he’d be a master of the stymie. He’s such a traditionalist, walking his few holes at a time with one of those tiny, round, leather golf bags over his shoulder, the kind of bag Pinehurst’s PutterBoy might be toting. “The Ol’ Pro’s starter set,” Caddiemaster Greg Crum calls it.
But who can tell me, What’s a “stymie gauge”?
