Golfers police themselves...

From the “why this is a great game” department, my good friend Peter Joos writes me...

“One of my colleagues played in a tournament last weekend...on the Old Course in St. Andrews...came in second in his flight...guy who “won” the flight, upon seeing his score posted on the web, called the club secretary to notify as to his incorrectly assigned handicap...that he had failed to notice when he signed his card...DQ’d himself...

“Once again...the only sport where self-policing regularly occurs (and is, therefore, expected)...”

(And, yes, Peter really does write using ellipsis as his primary punctuation.)
