... “what makes a neighborhood a neighborhood is evidence of continual evolution and reinvention.... And, of course, having things you can walk to, like cafes, florists and markets is key. It’s how you get to know your neighbors.”
This from the “Living Design” blog by Allison Arieff in The New York Times’s “TimesSelect” product online. Arieff has been writing about design for about a week now, and I look forward to every post.
A word about “TimesSelect”: this is a premium service of nytimes.com. It cost me $49/year, I think, and up to Arieff’s blog, I suppose it’s greatest value for me has been (a) online access to Thomas Friedman’s columns and (b) the ability to store in a “TimesFile” articles I find that I may want to return to at a later time.
Premium services online aren’t for everyone, but I admire the moxie of some content providers in doing them, especially when I’m rewarded with little bonuses (like Arieff) months after I make the financial commitment.
But, oh, yes ... this post was going to be about neighborhoods. Oh, well, maybe another time...
