I think the people who work with me are beginning to get the idea that working sans office might be a good thing.
We’re clearly moving in that direction. Two of our six employees - including me - work outside our Revolution Mill office in Greensboro. It seems one or more of them every week decides he or they will work from home, or take the laptop to the Green Bean (a local coffee shop with wireless access) ... something.
If you haven’t tried it, you should. Put the right tools in place (essentials, I think, are high speed internet, an IM account and “buddy list,” a mobile or internet phone, and prox to a power outlet), and you can be more productive, more collaborative, more connected and more social - all at once.
