Il Bravio is a barrel rolling contest takes place the last Sunday of the month of august in the town of Montepulciano. Every year the Eight Contrade (Collazzi, Cagnano, Talosa, Coste, Gracciano, Voltaia,Poggiolo, San Donato) compete for the Bravio, a cloth bearing the iconographic image of the city's patron, San Giovanni Decollato.
The race dates back to the 17th century and contenders roll empty wine barrels through the narrow streets up to the Main square, Piazza Grande.
