The Coastal Physical Oceanography and Marine Ecology (CPhOAME) Group is located in the Department of Oceanography in the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. We study the linkage between coastal physical oceanography and and the dynamics of marine ecosystems.

Our research is interdisciplinary and consists of fieldwork, modeling, and quantitative analysis to provide insight into:

    • physical dynamics and characteristics of the coastal ocean

    • effects of physical oceanographic processes on plankton distribution & transport

    • dispersal of invertebrate and fish larvae in three-dimensional flow fields
