We had an amazing evening with Marielle’s photoshoot. Being her XV year old celebration, we had her wearing a ball gown for the official 1st photo.
After having this first set, we created a few more sets for an incredible photo production. From a night warrior, to a twin sister fantasy and a successful 4-seasons series.

Camera Tossing

This thing about Tossing my camera came to me in one of the most bizarre ways I could think.
Last week I had some sort of a daydream, where I just opened the shutter of my camera and threw it into the air forever, then, next thing I know I get my daily email newsletter from flickr, where they talk about this group named “Camera Toss”, where a bunch of lunatics get to throw their cameras and create interesting images when doing so.
I soon realized they were doing exactly what came to my mind one day before.
I also found out that this practice is somewhat new to the digital world, searched for a camera Toss group at facebook, and discovered there were none, so I have opened our 1st Camera Toss group at Facebook.

I’ve found myself today tripping the light at the most ravishing cozy loft my feet have stepped on for a while.
This exquisite place was wrapped by white shades all around, and a strong sense of fine taste in every detail.
Pulchritudinous flooring cold served over ultra-polished european white stone with crispy perfect reflections turned out to be so neat that virtually left no room for mirrors.
It’s hard to think of mirrors when your home is actually a mirror box.

Thousands of images were received from ninety-two countries. Trash The Frappuccino!

Last week we had a frapuccino photo shooting for a client. It took us about one day to achieve the images he wanted.
After having “all you can drink” frappuccino blast for the day, I decided to celebrate with a frappuccino’s revenge shot, so I trashed it down.

Surrounded by heavy steel machinery, today’s wedding photo shooting was filled with a great sense of softness rarely seen in a place like this.
I re-discovered light in all its forms and sources, creating a very wide range of scenes, from a 7-light setup for the cover shot, to “au-naturelle” backlight and diffused lighting.
I chose each different light setup for each specific photographic intention.
Laura & JPablo turned out to be one of the most incredible and cooperating couples, letting us know that love comes in all shapes.

Mosaic Series: a world's tiled view

Mosaic Series is a hand crafted multi-piece photographic project where viewer gets to see a visual meaning out of loose photo pieces that won't say much when viewed individually.  Sometimes we are so close to our tasks that we forget to take one step back and get to see the whole panoramic.  This is what it's all about: getting to view the whole landscape while keeping attention to detail.  Mosaic series was initially created with facebook in mind, designed to showcase perfectly at their gallery engine. Much close how it looks here.

Beautiful couple, redefined

Yes, we all know all brides are beautiful, but more than a catchy phrase, I sincerely believe, this is inalienable truth.
Camera, lens, light, love fragrance and a strong sense of magic met all at once today.
Ale proved beautiful can be prettier, and made clear that photography can be as pure as the heart.
Putting words to photos is against all logic. As far as I know, it’s the other way around. Isn’t it that a picture is worth a thousand words?
I guess it’s best to stop writing and start enjoying these images.

Supermarket delirium

There are things that aren't meant to go together, but do look quite well when they collide.
Saturday night, party's just begun. All of a sudden, she realizes somebody missed to bring something. This is when she heads right straight to the supermarket. Gotta get there before closing time.
Late nite customers can't wait to see how the aisle transforms into catwalk. Fashion fest is here. You better sit and enjoy the show.
This haunting fairy-tale song will never get out of her head. So she puts on her new dress, opens a Christian Louboutin shoebox and sprays on a citric perfume. Enchanting smell of leather, enamel and perfume.
All wrapped up in glam, she's strolling again that shopping cart full of oranges. She drinks valium pills with taurine, ginseng and caffein sugar-free cocktail. Delirium on the rocks.
You gotta see her dance over the shelves. Things will never be the same again.
They never were anyway.

Hepburn in retro heat

Today I let retro waves flow around this assignment. Lightly influenced by Audrey Hepburn’s active era, I matched this magical atmosphere where soft glam was the name of the game.
Vicky proved to be the perfect profile for this project. Her unique charm and graceful figure framed with a very strong attitude allowed me to obtain these powerful shots.
I was amazed how she came out to be a great model without even actually being professionally dedicated to it. This was actually her first official photo session, and I was amazed to watch her move like she had done this a thousand times.
Officially a non-model model. Definitively a natural stage predator.

Ale & Jorge e-session

We’ve had a great time doing this engagement session with Ale & Jorge. More than a photographic session, this was a great get-together evening.
Started in the studio with some high-key shots, and ended in my own unique outdoor studio, which happens to be an abandoned vintage packing plant.
On top on the words I have to share, I have these lovely images. Can’t wait to see how the wedding day pictures are going to come out.

Trash The Damn Dress away

Comprobado: entre más gorro te valga el vestido, menos se te va a ensuciar. Novias de México: tomen nota, y que les valga wilson su vestido, ya que entre más se preocupen por las manchas, más se les va a manchar.
El día de hoy Anabel, nos regaló una sesión de fotos profundamente memorable. La novia más aventada que se ha visto por estos rumbos. No se detuvo por nada. Salió más valiente que el mismísimo “El Valiente” de nuestra lotería mexicana.
Carlos se encargó de la comedia con unas puntadas que nos tenían en el piso de la risa. Por eso se ven tantas fotos desde ángulos bajos.
La locación es tan remota que ni siquiera la locación misma puede reclamar su existencia. En la escuela del pueblo, la clase más reciente que se impartió fue en Primavera de 1958.
Dejamos el rollo hasta aquí para dejar el paso a las fotos.

Conozco a Lupita desde aprox 1990, y desde entonces siempre habíamos pensado en hacer una buena sesión de fotos. Nunca imaginaría que más de 19 años después, entraríamos al estudio para crear una serie de imágenes que no cualquier señora mamá de 2 hijos se aventaría.

Nos escribe Adriana, quien en el 2003 le tomamos sus fotos de boda. Ahora con la buena noticia de que tiene un bebé de 1 año 4 meses, y además está por llegar un segundo bebé a la familia para este próximo febrero de 2009.
Qué mejor ocasión para una buena sesión de fotos en el estudio?

One Photo a Day Project

There's no common subject for this compilation but the compilation itself. So pictures will come in completely different styles, scenarios, themes, colors and techniques.

Sometimes I end up taking pictures in very unusual places. Places that might seem quite unsuitable for a photo session.
Today, we chose a location that actually was under construction. A great place, but still an unfinished project. The trick here was to be able to work here, hiding the unfinished areas and focusing on the rest of the location.
Then, mixing the beauty of available light with the precission of controlled artificial light to create a whole new atmosphere in every set used.

MAYDAY: extreme cabin pressurization!

We’ve finished our 2nd day of this awesome assignment.
We are shooting 24 gorgeous models posing on a wide variety of sets at our hometown’s international airport.

The images are intented for 2009 Viva Aerobus Calendar. The 1st of its kind in Mexico. No other Mexican airline has attempted to walk this path.
Now I understand why.

Control Tower reinforced their surveillance devices right away. We’ve had some fun creating chaos!

The images I am sharing today are a preview only.

Beauty is in the heart

Today’s assignment: photo shooting for a chair sale ad. This can get as boring or as fun as you want it to be.
I was determined to finish the ad’s main pictures as soon as possible so that I could get the fun started.
After making the main shots, I turned up the music volume and began to find incredible soft and sexy shapes in all the chairs I was assigned to take.
Here’s a brief compilation of the images I was able to make just by twisting up a bit the usual way to get the ad’s images.

La sesión de fotos de Consuelo y Carlos fue espectacular desde el día que llegaron al studio por primera vez. Fue desde entonces que quedó claro que haríamos algo que nadie había hecho antes.

El reporte de viaje es muy interesante:
• 1,356 fotos tomadas
• 14 sets montados
• 9 strobos de iluminación
• 2 niñas guapísimas
• todo en 1 solo día
Nos lanzamos a realizar esta sesión de fotos en el Alamo, por allá por villa de Santiago, en un lugar donde ni los cobradores llegan.
Baby y Lore envueltas por un manto de elegancia que provocará en cada foto un largo suspiro de más de un admirador.
Las dos modelos como todas unas profesionales, aguantaron calor, hambre, sed, y hasta una bola de necios jejenes que terminaron con indigestión de tanto devorarnos.
La locación increíble, tal y como nos habían ya puesto sobre aviso.

La sesión de Ale fue organizada de manera muy espontánea y sin complicaciones.
Un juego de muebles de piel nuevos, y una locación muy interesante: una abandonada empacadora de carnes y enlatados.
La palabra clave en esta sesión es “contraste”, ya que en más de un sentido estuvo presente.
Contraste entre lo nuevo de los muebles y lo viejo de los sets. Contraste entre la rudeza de la locación y la delicadeza y belleza de Ale.

Resulta que Jorge es la voz en una banda de death metal. Un género musical que estoy seguro muy pocos conocen.
Rammstein suena a Tatiana al lado de Disgvst (la banda de Jorge).
Cualquiera esperaría toparse con un tipo que se la pasaría sacando la lengua y poniendo malas caras.
Wrong!
Jorge es el pelao’ más divertido, más puesto para hacer lo que sea, y especialmente, el más afectivo con Egla.
Una sesión de las que no se olvidan.

Estamos de regreso en esta locación donde ya hemos estado de nuevo. El reto es muy sencillo: las cámaras no se guardan en las maletas sin haber conseguido nuevas imágenes.
En esta ocasión re-descubrimos el lugar disparando en otras direcciones. La experiencia fue de lo más divertido.
