Bed & Breakfast Details

The Peeping Cow Bed & Breakfast, situated on a main road affording excellent visibility,

is a short scenic drive to Woodstock – one of Vermont’s premier resort town destinations.

Our circa 1820 homestead, an idyllic farmhouse, has a pastoral setting of brook, forest, stone walls and open pastures thus giving birth to the B&B’s name.  It was christened by famous American author’s daughter who delighted in watching the cows at our windows watch us.  Others through the years have delighted in our occasional resident moose(s) off the back deck.

After 30 years of restoration this property retains the charm of yesteryear and enjoys the conveniences of today’s modern conveniences.

There are 8 bedrooms, 6 baths, (4 en suite), handmade random width pine floors, a formal dining room, common room and den with solarium (both with fireplaces),  plus a cheerful new kitchen, new deck, three bay heated garage, and private owners’ quarters comprise only some of the buildings’ features.

The Peeping Cow was featured – among many other places – in a charity fundraiser held by Christie’s Fine Art auctioneers (Park Ave., NYC since 1766).  It was in such prestigious company as the Plaza Hotel (NYC), the Richmond Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland, etc.

Convenient to Green Mountain Horse Association (the country’s finest equestrian center), Killington/Okemo/Ascutney ski areas, Dartmouth College and Medical Center (newest and best in northern New England), and two major interstate highways, it is currently being used as a private residence by the original B&B owners.

These buildings on 7.62 acres are being offered at $599,000.00

(Appraised in November of 2004 at $675,000.00).
