Leahy is looking forward to welcoming students of all ages and levels of experience to their third annual Music Camp.
 
When:  The Camp is scheduled to take place from July 8 - 11, 2008 at Viamede Resort, www.viamede.com . Viamede is a full-service resort on Stoney Lake, just north of Leahy’s home town of Lakefield, Ontario.
 
What:  Over the course of 4 days, participants will receive instruction in the areas of fiddle, piano, and step-dancing.  They will also have an opportunity to attend a variety of musical events including special performances, jam sessions, lectures, symposiums, and workshops. The members of Leahy, Natalie Macmaster, Chanda Gibson Leahy, and several other special guests will be instructing at this year’s Camp.  Meet the Instructors here.
 
 “Down time” during the Camp schedule will allow participants the opportunity to jam with other students, meet people from across North America, and take advantage of the many recreational facilities at Viamede Resort including swimming, canoeing, tennis, hiking, biking and more…. www.viamede.com

CAMP INFORMATION
 
Age Requirements
Participants from age 8 and up are welcome to attend the Camp, although participants under the age of 16 must come with a parent or guardian to act as their chaperone. This rule applies to resident and non-resident participants. “Resident” refers to participants who will physically reside at the resort for the duration of the Camp.
 
A variety of resident and non-resident options are available, including family rates. Please see “Fee & Accommodation Options”.
 
Travel info
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to Viamede Resort; directions are included in this brochure. Participants using air travel can choose between Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto, airport code YYZ or Buffalo International Airport, airport code BUF. Special shuttles will be available to transport participants to the Camp from the TORONTO AIRPORT ONLY on a first come first served basis.  They will run on July 8 and 12 respectively at an extra cost of $50 Cdn/$50 US per person each way. Due to various flight arrival times, passengers can expect a waiting period at the airport. Both airports are serviced by various ground transportation services should anyone choose to rent their own vehicle.
 
Please note: a valid passport is now required for everyone travelling internationally BY AIR. People crossing into Canada by car or bus do NOT require a passport but should arrive at the board crossing with at least 2 pieces of identification (ie. Driver’s license, birth certificate, etc.).  
 
 
Accommodation info
Viamede Resort is a full-service resort located in the Kawartha Lakes region of Central Ontario. Rooms have 1 king, 1 queen, or 2 double beds with private baths. Cots are available on a limited basis.  Room assignments are made at Leahy Music not at Viamede Resort. We will do our best to accommodate rooming requests, but no guarantees can be made. We are sorry that no pets are allowed at Viamede. RVs and tents are not allowed on the Viamede property. Alternative options are listed on page 3.
 
 
Meal info
All meals will be provided from dinner on the 8th to breakfast on the 12th for resident participants. Non residents will receive dinner on the 8th and lunch and dinner daily from the 9th – 11th.
 
Meal cards will be issued to all participants and their family members/chaperones upon registration. People who do not have their cards with them at meal times, will not be admitted to the dining room.
 
Room rules
A curfew of 11 pm will be in effect for all participants under 18 years of age.  No visitors are allowed in rooms after 11pm and overnight guests from outside the Camp, are not permitted. The Leahy Music Camp reserves the right to expel any Camp participant for violations of this policy without refunding any fees paid.
 
 
Medical services
The Peterborough Regional Hospital is a 60 minute drive from Viamede Resort. The area is serviced by ambulance and fire services. Canadian participants are covered for emergencies by their Provincial health plans; please ensure you bring your health card to Camp. International participants are advised to acquire travel health coverage prior to arriving at Camp.
 
 
Camp Schedules
The Camp schedules are personalized for each registered participant and will be distributed upon registration on July 8. Each day begins at 8:00am and ends at approximately 10 or 11pm.  Participants will have an opportunity to choose elective classes prior to or on the day of registration. Electives will be posted on the Music Camp website before registrants arrive at Camp in July.
