The Legendary
Ring Game

The legendary Ring Game of Governor Dodge State Park is a bi-annual event that is currently in it’s 30th year.  The game is a strategic scenario based upon J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.  The game occupies some 10 square miles of the northeastern portion of the park where geographic features represent named places in the books.  Typically this is a five hour game of running, hiking, skulking, and general milling about of about 100 people of all ages.  Add to this the unique flair of armor, weapons, and creative costuming to fill out the roles described in the story, and you have a spectacle to be in awe of.  You may contact Jack Barker for more information on how to get involved.  His site is can be found via the Links page.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
