Just a word.. I like my privacy, but I also have my opinions. In my blog, you will find some I’m willing to share publicly. These are inspired by my civic involvements and interests and are informed by my study and practice of sociology. There are often issues on which one must stand up and be counted. In these times there seem to be many of them. In an earlier incarnation of this blog, I published some opinion pieces I had written on educational issues. Origins.. My dad’s nickname was “the Who,’ and I’d been a fan of the BBC series Doctor Who in its incarnation on PBS. It was a cult thing. But in admiration of “the Doctor,” I was determined to adopt the moniker when I completed my Ph.D. at Boston College in August 1996. The Doctor’s moment is between pluck and pacifism, and between isolationism and involvement.
