Our event will raise money for a cure for Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes multiple symptoms including behavior disturbances, mental impairment, and seizures.

 

The most exciting thing about this cause is that a cure is within reach. Scientists have been able to correct almost all of the symptoms of Fragile X in a fruit fly, a fish, and a mouse.  A cure for humans is believed to be just a few years away.  

 

However, human trials are expensive and funding is limited since the awareness of Fragile X Syndrome remains low. Our mission is to raise funds to help reach a matching grant challenge from Warren Buffett’s sister, Doris Buffett.  If we meet this challenge, $1 million dollars will go straight to trials for a real life treatment for Fragile X and this research will benefit many other brain disorders like autism and Alzheimer’s Syndrome.
