EVANGELISM AND GROUPS

Are we already approaching fall? One couldn’t tell as we fill buckets with sweat during one of the hottest months (Sept) of the year.

The last half of the summer groups: Fairfax (youth), Cloverdale, Highland View/ Westminster, Maricamp, and Fairfax (adult) had a tremendous impact on the work here in the DR. What a joy to have so many willing to come and give up a week of vacation to come and serve others. The presence of the groups remain long after they depart; seeing the new shiny tin roofs scattered across the country side, driving across a safe bridge, los vecinos (the neighbors) stopping and asking how “so and so” is, and all the groups left behind clothes being worn by the villagers. Only God knows the outcome of what all
this will have on the people whose lives have been touched by these strangers being the hands and feet of our Savior.

All the groups look forward to visiting the Community Center ministry in Rio San Juan. Some come prepared to share in singing, or perhaps a lesson. Others perform a skit or drama, and others will involve audience participation in games and tricks, even some hard sweaty labor. All have a good time. TJ and Holly have been a tremendous blessing to this outreach. And with all “good works” Satan (I hate writing his name with a capital, but spell check insists) is not happy. He has hurled missiles in hopes of demolishing the good being done, but he’s fighting against the King of kings!!

The Lambs have returned from Guatemala with a Spanish tongue!  The tutoring is going well.  At first some were pushing the limits as they sought their place in the new scheme of things. Others were a little shy as they tested the “waters”.  The shyness has worn off, but Cory and Laura Beth have set up a good system of consequences to one’s actions and firm yet loving teachings are making a difference.

Living in a third world country can be frustrating when it comes to getting the ball rolling and keeping it rolling. But everything is in God’s timing

WELL DRILLING

UPDATE: a rig has been sighted in CA, and we have a friend; Curt King, who knows all about rigs, going to check it out. We’ll keep you posted!
UPDATE 2: Other rigs have been sighted in California, Ohio, Connecticut, Florida, and New York. Some aren’t quite the right “fit” for the type of work, parts, and tools we have; some were sold during communications; but some have looked pretty good until our friend, Curt King, an expert in drilling, went to check them out up close and personal. We know there are rigs out there, and it’s a matter of getting the right one and being a good steward of our choices. Please continue to pray about this.

First, let praises be lifted and thanks be given to God and to all those who prayed, advised, and treated my infection. As of Aug 8th the opening closed and another round of different antibiotics was completed. Five weeks later no sign of the infection returning has been seen!!

Brian is in Guatemala attending a Spanish language school. I “Skype” him each week and through crackling static, disconnections, and city noises we are able to grab bits and pieces of what we are trying to communicate to each other.
Or are we? I’m pretty sure he told me I could go make weekly visits to family in South Africa, New Zealand, and various States while he’s away!! (I feel obligated to say I’m just teasing incase there are those who don’t know me as well as others.) But I do ask that you pray for my family that is spread out all over the world; it all seems so far away at the moment.

Because of Him,
Brian and Tammie
The Community Center in RSJ
and His timing is best.  The children have returned to school and the need of computer work has surfaced with it, the completion of the Library’s solar power. What a blessing to have the safe reliable power and the computers for the kid’s use.  Thank you all who contributed towards this effort.
