Do you remember, when you were about five years old, the smell of a new coloring book and the waxy smell of a fresh set of crayons? A coloring book you probably got from your grandmother, or aunt. And the hours spent sitting on the floor, with your tongue hanging out one side of your mouth as you tried valiantly to stay “between the lines”? That’s what I do to most of my photos – different materials, same process. I still find myself in the same tongue-hanging-out posture sometimes, and have to look around to see if anyone noticed. When I was five it didn’t matter. Still doesn’t.
