Lyn Miller-Lachmann

Thank you for visiting my site. Here you’ll learn about the work I’ve done over the past two decades to increase awareness of and appreciation for diversity, intercultural understanding, and human rights. From 1994 to 2010, I edited the award-winning journal MultiCultural Review, which reviews books and non-print media and publishes articles on aspects of diversity in North America and throughout the world I’m currently on leave from the journal to pursue my MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at Vermont College of Fine Arts. I also edited Once Upon a Cuento, a collection of short stories for young readers by 14 established and emerging Latino authors. In 2000, I started work on what would become my first adult novel, the eco-thriller Dirt Cheap, published by Curbstone Press in 2006.

My latest book, Gringolandia, a novel for teen and adult readers, was published by Curbstone in May 2009 and is now available through Northwestern University Press. In January 2010 Gringolandia was selected for the American Library Association’s Best Books for Young Adults list. Later in 2010 it received a IPPY Gold Medal from the Independent Publishers Association in the Children’s Multicultural category and an Américas Award Honorable Mention from the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs, among other  major honors.
