The story so far...

about class

This course is taught with an emphasis on the study and practice of the reading and writing connection in learning.  We will base our activities in a variety of formats: small group activities, large group discussions, individual classroom and homework activities.  To encourage active reading and critical analysis skills, students are assigned written work in conjunction with reading.  These activities often include the use of the dialectical notebook based on a skillful analysis of the components of language: diction, imagery, details, language, syntax, and tone. A unit will conclude with one or more of the following assessments: a critical-analytical essay, a research paper or project, a group presentation, a written examination, or a response journal.
