A BUNCH OF WHITE DUDES’ REVIEWS FOR BITCH

… “Bitch” is a devious and angry little short, and let me not forget to mention brilliantly hilarious too... Filmmaker Lilah Vandenburgh has done a perfect job of throwing various “poseur” stereotypes into the characters surrounding Bitch without going too far overboard... Thankfully, this Bitch has the balls to punch them in the face.

“Bitch, the kinetic, black-and-white, Harold Lloyd-meets-Jello Biafra love story, is one of the most visually sophisticated and stylized films to emerge from that Sundance short film-factory, Columbia University’s MFA Film Program. The film’s director, Lilah Vanderburgh, is obsessed with skater culture, punk-rock, underground comics, and displays the hip film literacy of another director with an encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture. (Is it taboo to compare a young director to Tarantino? Who cares — in this case, it’s deserved). This film will kick your ass. “

“Lilah Vandenburgh's "Bitch" is an often hilarious and occasionally poignant portrait of one young woman's war against the inane. Bitch is the person we all want to be; when confronted with the idiot, the poseur, and the self-styled hipster, she administers a righteous beat-down, the sneer on her face barely wavering…

…"Bitch" is a real treat: a comedic little short that never falls into sentimentality or takes itself too seriously. After watching it, hopefully you'll realize we all have a little bitch inside of us.

“Funny, kinetic and just plain entertainingly crazy.“

-- Ain’t It Cool News

“Easily one of funniest and quirkiest short comedies in a long time, "Bitch" is totally fun.

Shot in black and white with a punk-rock edge and editing style, writer/director Lilah Vandenburgh must have had a great time making this film, because watching it is a blast.“

“It’ll be hard for anyone to remember anything else on the bill after Lilah Vandenburgh’s hilarious “Bitch,” in which a hair-triggered record-store clerk (Keira Leverton) finds her Mr. Right in a viciously unrepentant shoplifter (Juan Garcia). It all works, especially the suffering montage set to a whiny-ass ‘Everybody Hurts.’”
