Finance + Sustainability

Our present generation faces many challenges, not least of which is the unraveling of Earth’s ecosystems.  Over the past 50 years, human population has doubled, with a concomitant decline in key natural resources (water, forests, petroleum, climate mitigation capacity) and biodiversity.

Meeting the needs of a growing population within the confines of a finite planet requires us to understand and seek sustainability -- improvements in the level of human well-being achieved without compromising the stability of Earth’s ecological and sociocultural systems.

Business and financial decision-making skills are critical to this process, which will require both a realignment of economic incentives and innovative technological solutions.

“Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp, or what’s a heaven for?”

-- Robert Browning
