Mother Daughter String Band

A Brief History:
Lyn and Abby performed and recorded together in the 1970's with John Cohen and Jay Ungar in "The Putnam String County Band." It was in this decade that Ruth was born, into a great old-timey string band resurgence in New York's Hudson Valley.
Later, Lyn toured with the all-female folk band, "Rude Girls" throughout the 1980's. That's when Abby began playing Celtic music while touring Scotland and the US with Jean Redpath.
Then Rosie was born and she too was raised on many of the same tunes and lullabies that Ruth had absorbed earlier, like Lyn and Abby's beautiful versions of "Black Jack Davey" and "Turtle Dove”.
Abby performs with the Scottish folk group "Ferintosh" and “Celtic Crossing”.
Ruth plays with her husband Michael Merenda as “Mike & Ruthy”.
Rosie , performs with both "The Pearly Snaps" and “The Evil City String Band” in Ithaca, NY.
Lyn repairs and restores guitars and banjos and mandolins, and performs with Elly Wininger and Janice Kollar in , “The Cupcakes” in Saugerties, NY.
As you can see we are all very busy, and what a treat it is for us to all get together and sing and play together!
